WHAT IS FINDING
PURPOSE?
Finding Purpose is a ministry based in Raleigh that offers men opportunities to gather for fellowship, prayer, study, and to fuel a passion for God's word. Since 2003, we have pursued our mission to glorify God by making Him known and guiding men toward their life's purpose. We believe the only way to understand one's purpose in life is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Russ Andrews
Russ began leading men through the Bible while working in the financial industry. Having developed a passion for shepherding men and sharing the truth of God's word, he left the corporate world to pursue full-time ministry. Russ earned his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2003, he founded Finding Purpose Ministry to reach men with the truth of the gospel so they may glorify God and find purpose in life.
Russ teaches the Bible verse-by-verse, helping listeners understand the passage and showing how it applies to their lives. Through this ministry, he leads several weekly Bible studies and reaches an ever-increasing audience through his radio ministry and a weekly email devotional. Russ has been married to Creecy since 1978, and they share two children and six grandchildren.
What We Believe
Enjoyment of God’s love and a high regard for His holiness are foundations of the Christian life, and the responsibility of following Christ is its most fulfilling privilege. While we aim to minister to men from diverse backgrounds, we unapologetically affirm the essentials of the Christian faith.
The Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It has God for its author, and its contents are without error. Therefore, all Scripture is true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and its teaching is the final authority for all Christian life in matters of faith and practice.
There is one living and true God who is the Creator, Redeemer, and Ruler of the universe. He is infinite in holiness and all perfections. His perfect knowledge extends to all things. God reveals Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
Man is created in God's image and likeness and is the crowning work of His creation. By his free choice, man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Men are justly condemned to eternal judgment and can do nothing to merit salvation. Only those who receive Jesus Christ by faith are forgiven and born of the Holy Spirit; thus, they become children of God.
Christ is the eternal Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our redemption, was raised from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of God. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and consummate His redemptive mission.
The Holy Spirit indwells and seals every believer at the moment of saving faith. His presence in the Christian guarantees that God will bring the believer into the fullness of Christ's stature. His ministry is to glorify Christ and, during this age, convict men of sin, regenerate the believing sinner, and guide, instruct, and empower him for godly living and service. We believe that all Christians should witness for Christ in His power and study the Bible with His help.
Salvation is given to those chosen by God and drawn to Christ by the Holy Spirit. The believer is saved when he is spiritually born again as a child of God by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
Jesus Christ will return to the earth personally, visibly, and bodily to fulfill God's eternal plan and bring history to its conclusion. He will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment. The righteous, in their resurrected and glorified bodies, will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.
